Decolonization and self-determination have well-established international standards: a UN-supervised act of self-determination, a verifiable legal instrument, and protection of human rights during transition. These standards have been applied to many Trust Territories since 1945.
SCDF does not seek special treatment. It seeks the same standard that the United Nations itself defined for territories under Trusteeship.
